"WHILE most area residents travel to work by road, a few can’t get the job done without a boat. The only way to reach Bannerman's Castle, on Pollepel Island, about 1,000 feet off the Hudson’s eastern shore, is by boat. Only a boat that draws one or two feet can safely make the 20-minute journey."
