"The short trip across Seattle's Lake Union on Wednesday also marked the end of a battle by ship enthusiasts to save the lumber schooner, which was listed as a national historic site in 1970.
'I call it, 'death with dignity,'' Kay Bullitt, an 84-year-old civic activist who had come to the dock to say goodbye to the ship she tried to save, told The Seattle Times."
